Bonnie Performatrin Ultra Grain Free
On Nov. 9, 2005 we adopted a year and a half old adorable Black Lab/Shepherd Cross named Bonnie from the City of Winnipeg Animal Services. She was skinny but gentle and sweet and she walked well on a leash. We loved her the minute we took her home. She had a dark side though. Because she had been lacking affection in her previous home, she suffered from separation anxiety whenever we left her to go to work. We would never know what we would be coming home to even though she was kenneled during the day because she was also an escape artist. It took about 9 months for her feel secure in that we would come home at the end of the day.
I took her for long walks every day, taught her tricks and worked with her off leash in the yard. She matured into a calm, obedient, loyal and trusting dog. So much so that I was able to have her tested by St. John Ambulance and in March of 2006 and we became a Therapy Dog Team. We visited patients at 3 wards at Seven Oaks Hospital for 3 years followed by 3 years at Donwood Manor nursing home, where she bonded with patients/residents instantly. It seems she just needed the job. As soon as we entered the front doors she knew she was working and she loved doing tricks for treats for her patients and residents. We retired from St John Ambulance about 2 years ago. She is also a retired blood donor with CABB and had 15 donations. She had the perfect temperament for donating blood and the staff loved seeing her when she went.
It’s been 11 years since we picked up that skinny, shiny black dog and I can’t imagine life without her. She’s no longer skinny, but she IS shiny and is of a good weight at 75 pounds, and that I’m sure is due to the excellent dog food she eats. We have had her on Performatrin since we got her and in the past couple of years she has been on the Ultra. Her coat is shiny and she is very healthy with no medical problems. She has no digestive problems and loves her food. Even though she is a senior dog she is a gentle, affectionate, loyal and trusting “puppy”. She is healthy and active and still loves her daily walks, playing with her toys, swimming at the cottage and watching the squirrels.
